The Maharashtra Government has decided to expedite the completion of the first phase of Mumbai Metro 3 by the end of December 2024, shifting the deadline from the earlier target of September 2024. This phase will connect SEEPZ (Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone) to Bandra Kurla Complex. In a recent cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the government approved releasing its share of Rs 1,163 crore directly to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation, bypassing the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The project, now 98% complete, has a revised cost of Rs 37,275.50 crore.
