The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) presented its budget of Rs. 74,427.41 crore for the financial year 2025-26, marking a 14.19% increase from the previous year's estimate of Rs. 65,180.79 crore. The additional municipal commissioners submitted the budget to BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, who serves as the state-appointed administrator of the civic body.
For the third consecutive year, the budget was presented to the administrator instead of the standing committee, following the expiration of the corporators' term on March 7, 2022. Considered the country’s wealthiest municipal body, the BMC’s financial plan outlines key allocations for Mumbai’s infrastructure and civic services. The budget was presented at the BMC headquarters, continuing the trend of administrative control in the absence of elected representatives.
