The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken strict action against property tax defaulters by seizing and attaching properties belonging to Sumer Build Corporation Private Limited and RR Developers. According to a BMC release, the two developers owe 18 crore and 3.62 crore, respectively, in unpaid property tax dues.
As part of its crackdown on defaulters, the BMC’s property tax assessment and collection department initiated seizure and attachment proceedings after the developers failed to clear their dues within the stipulated 21-day period. Sumer Build Corporation's property in Mazgaon and RR Developers' land in Gavanpada village, Mulund, have now been seized. The civic body has also announced plans to auction off the attached properties to recover the pending tax dues. This move is part of BMC’s broader initiative to ensure timely tax compliance and recover outstanding revenues from defaulting establishments.
